Online support for North Carolina families

Questions before you start.

Make space to ask what matters to your family.

What makes the tutoring individualized?

Parent input, your child’s strengths and interests, educator matching and introductory work all inform the starting plan. We review recommended instruction, frequency and session length with you rather than prescribing the same plan for every child.

What do you mean by a holistic approach?

We consider academic skills alongside confidence, interests, independence and the support your child needs to participate in learning. This is an approach to academic tutoring; it does not mean the service includes medical care, counseling or speech therapy.

Does my child have to be falling behind?

Your child may need to rebuild a skill, maintain progress or work more independently. Tell us what you want support with, even if grades are strong, so we can discuss whether our tutoring fits.

Will I receive a learning plan during the free consultation?

The free consultation helps us understand your needs, explain our approach and discuss current costs. If you choose to begin, a deeper parent conversation and introductory tutoring inform a written starting plan that we review with you.

What if I am unsure whether online tutoring will suit my child?

Tell us about your child’s experience with screens, live interaction and transitions. We can explain the format and discuss participation and setup needs before you decide. Sessions are live and one-on-one; we do not provide an in-person service through this site.

Is tutoring in person?

This North Carolina service is online. We do not advertise a local tutoring center or in-home visits.

Can I discuss my child’s schoolwork?

Yes. Share the academic difficulty and what you hope tutoring will help address during the consultation. Ask SER how to provide documents securely; do not put sensitive records into a public inquiry form.

Can you guarantee a particular tutor or start date?

Your educator match and schedule depend on current availability and the support needed. Confirm these arrangements before enrolling.

Where can I ask questions about scholarship rules?

For eligibility, allowable expenses and program requirements, use the official North Carolina resources below or contact the administering agency. SER can discuss its own tutoring services and provide its service documentation.
