Compare the educator behind the service
A tutoring service’s name does not tell you who will teach your child or how instruction will work. When comparing options around Union County, ask about the individual educator, the academic need they will address and how you will understand progress.
Three questions that make a comparison useful
- “What experience fits this specific need?” Describe your child’s current reading or math task. Ask for relevant teaching experience at that stage, not only a list of subjects offered.
- “What supports the proposed approach?” If a named method is suggested, ask about the educator’s training and how they would use it for your child. Special education certification and training in an individual reading program are separate questions.
- “How will we know what to change?” Ask what the tutor will check, how updates will be shared and how the plan will be reconsidered if the task remains difficult.

Reading, math and learning differences
Special Ed Resource tutors are certified in special education. Discuss reading support for words, fluency or comprehension; math support for concepts and problem-solving; and relevant educator experience when dyslexia or ADHD affects academic work.
We confirm the educator, available schedule and current tutoring terms before you begin. We do not promise a particular specialist or improvement timeline before understanding the need and checking the match.

For questions about your child’s school services, contact the school or responsible district directly. Confirm the right school system rather than relying only on a town name or mailing address.

Make online delivery part of the decision
Our service is online for Union County families; we do not operate a Waxhaw or Indian Trail office. Discuss how your child uses a screen, what materials will be needed and whether adult setup help is expected. Choose the format based on your child’s needs as well as the family schedule.
